# Connect to PostgreSQL (like pgAdmin on Windows) **Best choice on Mac: DBeaver Community** — free, fast, works with PostgreSQL and many other databases. --- ## 1. Install DBeaver **Option A – Homebrew** (if you have it): ```bash brew install --cask dbeaver-community ``` **Option B – Direct download:** - https://dbeaver.io/download/ - Choose **Mac** → **DBeaver Community** → download and open the `.dmg`, then drag DBeaver to Applications. --- ## 2. Connect to your Odoo PostgreSQL 1. **Start PostgreSQL** (so Odoo’s database is running): ```bash cd /Users/yamenahmad/projects2026/odoo/odoo19 ./start.sh ``` Then press **Ctrl+C** to stop only Odoo; PostgreSQL keeps running. Or start only Postgres: ```bash ./.conda-envs/odoo19/bin/pg_ctl -D pgdata -l pgdata/logfile start ``` 2. **Open DBeaver** → **Database** → **New Database Connection** (or click the plug icon). 3. Choose **PostgreSQL** → **Next**. 4. **Main** tab: | Field | Value | |--------|---------------| | Host | `localhost` | | Port | `5432` | | Database | `postgres` (default; you can pick an Odoo DB later) | | Username | `yamenahmad` | | Password | *(leave empty)* | 5. Click **Test Connection**. If asked to download drivers, allow it. 6. **Finish**. Your Odoo databases appear under **Databases** in the left tree (e.g. the DB you created in Odoo). --- ## 3. Optional: Save as default - Right‑click the connection → **Edit Connection** → **Connection settings**. - You can set a name like **Odoo Local** and reuse it anytime. --- **Alternative: pgAdmin** - Install: `brew install --cask pgadmin4` or from https://www.pgadmin.org/download/pgadmin-4-macos/ - Same connection: Host `localhost`, Port `5432`, User `yamenahmad`, Password empty.
